The news: President Yoweri Museveni's drive for a fouth term as Uganda's leader has kicked off.
The spin:
Kampala, March: Inspired by the start of President Yoweri's bid for a fourth term, the son of God, Mr. Jesus Christ, has launched his own campaign for a second term on earth.
According to sources in heaven, Mr. Christ was reading The Weekly Observer story, ‘Museveni 4th Term Bid Starts' of last week when the idea struck him like lightening.
"If this Museveni man can have four terms in Uganda, why can't I, God's only son, have one, two, three, four terms on earth?" Mr. Christ reportedly said, according to his aides.
He said that just like Museveni, he had not managed to complete his mission on earth in the first term. "My mission was to bring fundamental change to earth, where every human being would become righteous. Obviously, I didn't succeed. The world is still full of robbers, murderers and politicians," Mr. Christ reportedly complained. "I think it is high time that God granted me another term to go down there and sort out that mess. I am prepared to stay for as long as it takes, Museveni-style."
Sometime back, President Yoweri Museveni's wife revealed that her husband had been sent by God to save Uganda. Later, according to her, God realised the task was so big that he dispatched her to back her husband up in the unthankful job of saving Ugandans.
Mr. Christ said since it is impossible for any one man to accomplish as huge a task as saving the world or even a country, he anticipated that both he and Museveni would be at it till God brought the curtain down and ended the world.
"I had imagined that my 12 disciples would carry forward the business of saving the world after my departure from earth, and I thought they were not doing too badly till I heard that Museveni had kick-started his bid for a fourth term.
If Museveni cannot hand over the tough job of saving little Uganda to thousands of his disciples, who include ministers, MPs, presidential advisers, presidential assistants and RDCs, why did I think that a mere 12 men could shoulder the burden of saving the whole world?" Mr. Christ reportedly wondered.
Asked to comment on the heavenly developments, the State House spokesperson said that they had not yet received official communication from heaven on the matter and could not, therefore, comment.
"We will find out from Janet whether God has called her yet on the matter and get back to you," the spokesperson said.
Mr. Jesus Christ was murdered by the opposition about 2000 years ago at the age of 33, but he miraculously resurrected and returned to his father in heaven.
